Mothers Day.

This years mothers day was the best mothers day ever! Granted, it was my only mothers day ever (as a mom), but it was still the best. Matt had planned out a whole day of fun, but kept it a surprise until we were in the car driving to our destination on Sunday morning. The morning started around 4:30am when Carter decided he wanted some mama/Carter cuddle time. I let Matt sleep in until 7am! I did get to enjoy a nice cup of coffee and do some quick grocery shopping all by myself. We then got ready to go on our adventure. Carter and Mama (thanks for the cute outfit Aunt Joy!)

Matt took me up to Semiahmoo for the day. It's a beautiful resort town on the water near the border. We had reservations for brunch and I was starving when we arrived. Matt let me go grab a plate of food while he hung out with Carter. Right as I was coming back to the table Carter had a huge blow-out...all over his new outfit! So, it was only fitting, on Mothers Day, to put down my plate of delicious food and run to the bathroom to change his entire outfit! (There wasn't a changing table in the men's bathroom or Matt would have done it). Once we had a clean baby again, then I went for round 2 of the food. We ate way too much food and enjoyed the beautiful view of the water from our table. After about 2 hours of sitting and eating, the wait staff was starting to give us bad looks and eyeing the table. So, we ventured outside to relax on the rocking chairs off the main deck.Carter was LOVING the sun!Family shot (it was a little bright, excuse the squinty eyes)The view.

After walking around a bit, we headed home, ran some more errands and ended the night with a relaxing walk around the neighborhood. Carter got to enjoy some avocados for dinner that night too!Thank you Matt and Carter for such a fun day! I love you both so much and feel so incredibly blessed to have you in my life.

5 months.

I know I say this every month, but I can't believe how fast Carter is growing! He will be 5 months old tomorrow so it was time for some pictures. Of course, the older he gets the more difficult it is to get a good shot. Oh well, I still think he's pretty cute.

Sweet potatoes.

We decided a while back that we were going to wait until Carter was 6 months old before starting solid foods. But, as he has proven time and time again, he's a little advanced for his age! He was supporting his head at 3 weeks, rolled over at 4 weeks and is now the size of an 8 month old! Since he was showing every sign in the book he was ready for some adult food, we gave in. We thought it'd be a great present for his 5th month birthday (tomorrow). First I thought I'd try out a breastmilk ice cube in the mesh feeder. He loved it!

I've been reading a lot about making homemade baby food and am really excited about it. I found this great website: http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/ that has a ton of recipes and tips. Not only is it healthier, but making your own food is much cheaper and so much fun! So, last night I whipped up my first batch of sweet potatoes. This morning we tested it out.

Go Mariners!

Last year Matt's parents gave us tickets to a Mariners game and it was so fun. We even caught a foul ball from Ichiro. So, this year when they offered again, we quickly accepted. it was a good weekend.

For the first time in a long time, we didn't have any plans this weekend. So, we relaxed and read some books. We ate our toys (maybe it's a sign he's ready for solid foods?)

We napped. We tested out the big boy high chair.We tasted the big boy high chair.We laid out in the sun (don't worry, I know babies shouldn't be in the sun very much, it was only like 3 minutes while I took some pictures!)We practiced sitting up on our own.We felt grass for the first time.We played with our bare feet.We took lots of walks. Yep...it was a good weekend.

lately...

Here's what we've been up to lately:My parents' best friends came up to Bellingham last week and stopped by for a visit. Grandma Nancy and Grandpa Dale were so excited to see Carter!

Uncle Adam celebrated his 31st birthday.

Carter went for a walk in the BOB without sitting in his carseat. He was so excited he fell asleep.

Lots of floor time and starting to scoot. It's so darn cute to watch his butt raise in the air and his chubby legs push off the floor.

Carter had his 4 month check up last week. He now weighs 19lbs. 10 oz and 27 1/4 inches long - the size of an 8 month old! This kid just won't stop growing.

Easter Fun.

For the last few weeks I have been shopping for a cute little Easter outfit for Carter. I've seen some cute cardigans, shorts, hats and sweaters, but ended up buying a little button up shirt and some khakis, figuring he'd get lots of use out of the pants. Little did I know that our baby would continue to grow like a weed! His easter outfit just barely fit him! Notice the buttons on the shirt about ready to pop off!

So, that first outfit only lasted about 10 minutes. Carter is the king of spit-up and always knows how to time it perfectly. He had his first big attack as I was putting his shirt on him, but I just wiped it up as best I could and ignored the huge wet spot hoping it would dry quickly. 5 minutes later and a puddle of spit-up on the floor it was time to change him into Easter outfit #2! The funny thing is this shirt is an 18 month shirt and Carter just turned 4 months old!Grandma and Grandpa Longhurst came up for a visit.After church, Carrie and Brandon came over to color Easter eggs. Carter wasn't too sure about it.Cuddling with Carrie!Brandon and the eggs.Matt was so happy the Glanzers came over to color eggs with me. He has zero patience to let eggs sit and dye and hates to eat hard-boiled eggs, so the combo was quite boring for him. Luckily, Carter was only interested in sucking his thumb so the 2 of them spent some quality time playing on the couch.
