blackberries.

This past weekend was filled with friends, beach walks, blackberries and lots of family time. Matt's good friend flew in from WI so they could go to the Pearl Jam concert together. We included a trip up to the beach house to show him more of beautiful WA while he was visiting. Of course that meant one day full of clouds and thunderstorms but luckily we still squeezed in lots of outdoor time.
I heard the concert was incredible too!
While Matt and James were in Seattle I took the kids up north for a day of animals and ice cream before going to the beach house. We stopped at a local park with an animal farm so they could see and pet the animals. Goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, bunnies and ponies! They had a bunch of bunnies up for adoption but Matt said no. Ha! (I wasn't encouraging it too much either.)

Then it was time for ice cream. There is a local produce market that is known for it's huge ice cream cones and clearly they don't lie. These cones were massive. None of us even came close to finishing the ice cream or the homemade waffle cone but it did make for a tasty lunch.

We got to the beach house and quickly went down to the water to play for a bit before dinner. We've all been anxiously awaiting blackberry season to pick wild blackberries for homemade jam and pie so I scooped up a bucket full to take home with us.

The rest of the weekend was spent going back down to the beach, walks around the neighborhood, lots of card games and playing baseball outside. I love these weekends where we can get away and just relax a little.

Sunday afternoon Matt took his friend back to the airport and then met us at the Aquasox game for one last home game of the year. The weather was perfect and it made for a great way to end the weekend.
