Easter Sunday and all the traditions.

Even though Easter was later than usual this year it still snuck up on us and I was totally unprepared. Between spring break and getting kids back in to the school routine it was a mad dash the few days before to get everything ready. We knew we had a full packed day with an earlier than normal church service and then a trip down to Matt's parents for our traditional Easter festivities.
But I still wanted to have a special breakfast. Knowing the kids would be full of sugar all day I opted for some homemade buttermilk biscuits with bacon and eggs. Special enough but still full of protein to get them going. Plus, we have a ton of leftovers for easy breakfasts on busy school mornings.

The kids raced downstairs to check out their baskets! We went super simple this year. A chocolate bunny, a few jelly beans, new goggles and then 1 bigger gift. Lucy got a new American Girl doll, Carter got a Stephen Curry jersey and Simon got his first metal bat!

Then, the annual "pretend you are all happy and we aren't in a rush and none of your new clothes are bugging you" pictures. So, you know how those turned out. ha!

After church we headed down south for a day of fun. The sun was shining and the kids couldn't wait to have their outdoor egg hunt. Color coded eggs have been the absolute best idea over the years so we can hide them for each kid based on ages and Matt's mom always fills them with special goodies.

Then it was time to dye those eggs. Simon's turned out all green since he was next to the green dye, Carter chose 1 of each color and Lucy kept her tradition alive of spending 1+ hours methodically coloring each and every egg over and over again until they were just right.
We ended the day with a delicious salmon dinner, lemon cheesecake tart for dessert and a happy drive home with 3 sugar filled kids. Happy Easter!
