a 3 day weekend.

Originally our 3 day weekend was going to consist of a birthday party, teaching Sunday school and a Justin Timberlake concert. And then JT bruised his vocal chords and the concert was postponed! So, we looked at our other scheduled activities, moved some things around and decided to venture up north to the beach house. It was supposed to be a beautiful weekend and knowing basketball games would soon be filling up our Saturdays we thought this was the perfect opportunity to get away for a couple days.
We headed up right after breakfast on Saturday morning and the kids quickly pulled out ALL the toys to play. So, I took full advantage of a comfy couch, warm blanket and good book!
I just love how sporty these kids are. We played on the grassy field for over 30 minutes just throwing a football and baseball around. They don't need much but love to run, run, run.
After a delicious steak dinner we put the kids to bed and relaxed for the night. The next morning it was so foggy! It was still a beautiful morning by the water and I enjoyed a little alone time before everyone woke up.
After breakfast we headed down to the beach to play. You know, the WA beach. Complete with rain boots, hats and gloves. Seriously, you guys, it was cold. The kids still loved throwing rocks in the water and playing on the slippery driftwood.
We decided to go back and warm up our fingers and toes, play a little longer and then head home. Even just a quick trip is so good for our family when we need some time together.
When we got home I opened up the kids' new Christmas pj's for the year and I must say, they look so stinkin' adorable. I'll keep doing this until Simon goes to college and maybe I'll even do it after that. Ha!
Finally, Monday night we celebrated the end of a good weekend at the grand opening of Seaplane, a new local restaurant that one of our dear friends had a big role in opening. She is the event planner for a few other restaurants in Seattle and her, along with the head chef and a few other great people worked so hard to open this beautiful space. The food was delicious, decor was amazing and being able to support her and her work was awesome.
After the kids ate their pizza, elk corndog (yep, Carter devoured it!) and pasta they got to indulge in a
