halloween costumes, parties and all the candy.

Halloween was one of the best so far. The kids are all at the ages where they really get excited and all have fun activities to participate in at their schools. And a bonus this year? Costumes were a piece of cake! The boys wanted to be the same thing as last year and Lucy asked for a combo unicorn/fairy/color princess so I whipped up a simple tulle skirt (free!), bought a pair of fairy wings from the dollar store and she put on a unicorn headband. Perfect!
Simon had so much fun at his preschool Halloween party. Spooky stories, Halloween bingo and candy corn snacks to round out the day.
So much fun that he crashed on the couch right when we got home. Ha!
I just love that the kids' schools still let them dress up and celebrate. Many of our friends in other districts can't celebrate or have class parties but we think it's so important to have these special memories from their school years.
And the best part was that I was able to celebrate with them! But let me tell you, planning, organizing and running 2 class parties back to back while an adorable, sugar crashing 3 year old tags along is no easy feat. I was exhausted by the end of the day!
We got home, prepped a delicious soup dinner and relaxed for a bit before trick or treating.
4th year in a row we've had my best friend and her family come over for dinner and trick or treating. It's such a fun tradition and just the perfect group to walk around with. The kids were ah-maz-ing!!! All of them stuck together, said please and thank you and ended up with a huge haul of candy! Easily the best year yet.
And now all the trading and sorting still continues. Happy Halloween!!
