what a weekend.

What a weekend! I can't remember the last time we had so many things scheduled. But it was so fun and all of us loved doing it together as a family.
Saturday morning started bright and early as we headed out for Lucy's first 5k. I can't even begin to describe how proud I am of her and her ability to finish strong. She even asked if we could do another run the very next day (while we were nearing the end of the 5k). Can't wait to do another run with her soon!
Then it was our turn. We kept a steady pace the entire time until the final 200 yards where she sprinted her little booty off! I can't get over how fast she actually is, especially at the end of a long run. We finished in 34 min, 37 seconds!
We had about an hour break to get some snacks, water and change clothes before heading to the baseball fields for Simon's t-ball jamboree. He played 2 games and loved every.single.second. This is his true passion. Plus, having older siblings for the big kids to play with for 2 hours helped a lot! And the sun even came out!
Don't worry, a race and 2 baseball games were just the beginning. Next up? Lucy's last basketball game! Simon took a quick power nap in the car while we headed over to the gym. Whew.
Lucy and her team improved so much over the season. Many of the girls had never played before and half were playing up a year so we could keep the girls on the same team. Despite being much shorter than several opposing teams they really did well, scored lots of points and had so much fun. Matt and Mike both coach soccer and basketball together (and have for years) so it's always fun to watch them whisper to each other during games. They were like mirror images of each other the entire game. Haha!
And finally, since we hadn't had a long enough day we headed to a team basketball party for frozen yogurt afterwards. Why not sugar them up after being gone for 9 hours all day?!? Everyone fell asleep quickly that night!
Sunday morning we "redid" Lucy's birthday. Her actual birthday...well...it didn't really go as planned. She got her ears pierced which later got infected (poor girl!) so she no longer has them pierced. It was a wild rain and wind storm so we couldn't do all the Christmas stuff in Seattle she had hoped for and then she came down with a fever and went to bed early without her favorite dinner. So, we promised a makeup day and Sunday was it. We opted for a delicious homemade strawberry shortcake breakfast, shopping at the mall and painting pottery. It was perfect! While shopping she even lost another tooth!
Then her dinner out was a local drive in for burgers, fries and milkshakes. The perfect way to end a fun filled, busy weekend.
Today was full of more sports, a fresh haircut for Simon and 75+ degree sunshine! Can't think of a better way to start a week!
