what a weekend.

What a weekend! I can't remember the last time we had so many things scheduled. But it was so fun and all of us loved doing it together as a family.
Saturday morning started bright and early as we headed out for Lucy's first 5k. I can't even begin to describe how proud I am of her and her ability to finish strong. She even asked if we could do another run the very next day (while we were nearing the end of the 5k). Can't wait to do another run with her soon!

The event started with a kids dash which Carter and Simon participated in. Carter came in first place and they both got medals. So fun!

Then it was our turn. We kept a steady pace the entire time until the final 200 yards where she sprinted her little booty off! I can't get over how fast she actually is, especially at the end of a long run. We finished in 34 min, 37 seconds!

We had about an hour break to get some snacks, water and change clothes before heading to the baseball fields for Simon's t-ball jamboree. He played 2 games and loved every.single.second. This is his true passion. Plus, having older siblings for the big kids to play with for 2 hours helped a lot! And the sun even came out!

Don't worry, a race and 2 baseball games were just the beginning. Next up? Lucy's last basketball game! Simon took a quick power nap in the car while we headed over to the gym. Whew.
Lucy and her team improved so much over the season. Many of the girls had never played before and half were playing up a year so we could keep the girls on the same team. Despite being much shorter than several opposing teams they really did well, scored lots of points and had so much fun. Matt and Mike both coach soccer and basketball together (and have for years) so it's always fun to watch them whisper to each other during games. They were like mirror images of each other the entire game. Haha!

And finally, since we hadn't had a long enough day we headed to a team basketball party for frozen yogurt afterwards. Why not sugar them up after being gone for 9 hours all day?!? Everyone fell asleep quickly that night!
Sunday morning we "redid" Lucy's birthday. Her actual birthday...well...it didn't really go as planned. She got her ears pierced which later got infected (poor girl!) so she no longer has them pierced. It was a wild rain and wind storm so we couldn't do all the Christmas stuff in Seattle she had hoped for and then she came down with a fever and went to bed early without her favorite dinner. So, we promised a makeup day and Sunday was it. We opted for a delicious homemade strawberry shortcake breakfast, shopping at the mall and painting pottery. It was perfect! While shopping she even lost another tooth!

Then her dinner out was a local drive in for burgers, fries and milkshakes. The perfect way to end a fun filled, busy weekend.

Today was full of more sports, a fresh haircut for Simon and 75+ degree sunshine! Can't think of a better way to start a week!

a crazy filled month of fun.

With the weather improving, snow days behind us and normal school schedules back in place we've wasted no time getting back in to our favorite crazy life.
This past week I took Carter out to dinner, just the 2 of us. Matt and I had both noticed how responsible, helpful and thoughtful he'd been besides doing a fantastic job at school. It deserved a little reward so a date night was perfect. He chose the restaurant and for an hour we talked all about sports, sports books, sports at recess and sports stories. Ha! Love him.

Simon's new favorite activity is to help the big kids get off to school and then come back and make them a special treat as a surprise for after school. I think he really just loves cookies. His little smile doesn't convince me every day but one particular morning he had fun baking chocolate chip cookies.

Then it was more baseball. His t-ball season has officially begun and he'll agree to practicing any time of the day.

Lucy celebrated her 100th day of school by making a crazy hat. Her teacher has been amazing this year, taking over after Christmas when her first teacher had a baby. She's been so lucky to have a really great class.
Family movie nights are back on and cuddling up on the couch is the best thing after a long week.

We got to finally tour Matt's new office space a few weeks ago. The kids loved the fancy conference rooms and the sparkling water machine. It was remodeled beautifully and I'm so proud of all the hard work Matt has done. Later we watched the UW Women play Stanford for their final basketball game of the season. It was the kids' Christmas present to Matt and we had so much fun. Lots of room to move around to different seats and a really great venue.

And then.....it snowed. Again. The kids were in a literal state of panic when they woke up. So funny! Usually it's giddy excitement to see snow but after so many snow days this year we are done! Thank goodness it melted quickly and they were happily off to school a few hours later.

Lucy and I take advantage of any sunny day we can get to go for a run. Her first 5k is only 12 hours away!! And Simon and I have been playing ALL the board games. Current favorite: Candyland. On repeat.

Pizza night. And even better? Pizza night where the kids make the entire thing themselves!

Simon is all sports, just like his big brother. This week it included soccer in the morning, basketball in the afternoon and t-ball after dinner. He's so fun to watch!

His t-ball team is so cute to watch since most of the kids have no clue what they are doing. All of them are fighting for the ball, no one is sure where to run and they love to interrupt the coach to tell him about their dog or mom or book they like. Simon is all about the game though. He knows exactly what to do and is all over the field when he's not at bat.

And finally, proof that after many, many months of practice, Lucy finally put my hair into a ponytail all by herself! She usually brushes my hair and tries to practice at night while I read her a book and now...success!  It really is the little things that aren't so little in their worlds.
So, March is full of all things fun, crazy, busy and wonderful. Just the way we like it.
