another summer week of fun.

How is it almost the end of August?!? And why must summer just fly on by every.single.year?!? This past week really felt like fall was preparing as we ended summer activities and began a few ones for fall.
But first...haircuts! Oh sheesh had it been a long time. The boys' hair is so thick and grows so fast that I feel like we have to cut it constantly. But, with a busy summer and trying to time a haircut with back to school pictures I just put it off. And off and off. So, after too many months all 3 kids got a fresh look. So much better!

Last week I got to have some extra time with Carter while Lucy attended a week long soccer camp every morning. I really love spending time with him and seeing how fast he is growing and changing. Our conversations center around authors and nature and chess and sports - he's truly an amazing kid.
Lucy loved, loved, loved her soccer camp! The Sounders put on such a great week of skill based learning, fun coaches and silly games. She attended with another friend who is on her fall team and they had such a great time together. Simon loved showing up a little early for pick up to watch all the kids play on the field too!
Eating outside is always a bonus on these warm summer days.
And then, more soccer! Lucy's fall soccer team started practices this past week. She has 7 girls , 5 who played together last year and the same coach from the past 4 seasons. So fun.
The boys and I went on a few outdoor adventures while Lucy was at soccer. My current favorite -  Bike rides! Simon is doing great on the seat behind me and Carter loved taking his time on the trail to stop for blackberries or look at a tree.

We ended the week with a family night at the Seahawks game! Lucy and Simon got to attend their first game and it was our first family adventure at Century Link. They did amazing! We stayed until the end of the 3rd quarter and only because it was getting really late and the people behind us were a bit too intoxicated to keep it family friendly. The noise, crowd, players and cheering were so fun and the kids loved seeing their favorite players on the field. Lucy is now convinced she'll be a Seagal for Halloween and Simon can't stop cheering "Go Seahawks!" anytime he sees a football.

The next day was rough. Everyone was tired and we had a long list of house projects and cleaning to get done. Simon just couldn't hang and ended up falling asleep standing up (yes, literally standing up!) in the afternoon. He eventually made his way down to the floor, poor guy!

And yesterday we ended the weekend with a day trip to see Grandma and Grandpa Vance. Grandma took the big kids out school shopping and Simon and Matt stayed home with Grandpa. A trip out to lunch and a birthday cake for Grandpa was the perfect way to end our week.

As the weather stays warm I'm hoping for a few more trips to the beach, some fun play dates with friends and maybe even a hike this week before back to school really hits us.
